Teaching/Performance Experience
I'm a Senior Adjunct Professor of Music at the University
of La Verne. Since 1983, I have taught Applied Music (Organ, Piano, Harpsichord,
and Recorder), Chamber Music, Fundamentals of Music, Music Appreciation, Music
History and Literature, Music of Women Composers and Performers, Piano Workshop
and Survey of Western Music (CAPA). I also direct the ULV Recorder Ensemble.
From 1985-1997, I served as Staff Accompanist for the ULV Choral Organizations,
Voice Workshops, and Applied Music in Voice. In 1990, I co-founded the Lordsburg Trio with Karen Cahill (flute) and
Audrey Lamprey (horn). In addition to my responsibilities at ULV, I am an
Accompanist and On-Line Music Instructor at Glendale Community College, and
the Organist at First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia.
Academic History
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (1981) degree in Music
from Juniata
College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, a Master of Music (1983) degree
in Organ Performance from Westminster Choir
College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, and a Ph.D. (2000)
in Music Cultures from Union Institute and
University in Cincinnati, Ohio. My dissertation title is "Flowers in
the Musical Canon: A Transformed, Gender Inclusive, Culturally Pluralistic
Model Core Curriculum in College Music."
Research Interests
Many of my research interests are closely related
to the three areas of specialization for my Ph.D.: Curriculum Transformation,
Adult Education, and Women's Studies. I am especially interested in online
education, higher educational theory and practice, historic keyboard music,
church music, convergent worship liturgies, music making in many cultures
(especially music created by women), and all things feline.
