Faculty Retreat 2000
Breakout Session: Compensation and Workload
Facilitators: Mark Nelson, Ann Wichman, Sharon Davis
- Begin work on a new three-year faculty compensation plan. Many variables must be taken into consideration. Target percentages rearranged from .97 to 1.05 of the CAPI school mean.
- Revisit part-time salaries for full time faculty teaching overloads. Specifically, full time faculty teaching overloads should
- receive higher rates of compensation than part-time faculty for the continuity and the extra services they provide and/or
- receive retirement benefits on these courses.
- Move that all directed studies should be compensated at $75.00 per unit, the current rate that CAPA pays for directed studies for their students.
- Believe that, in the future, compensation issues must be balanced with issues concerning class size.
- Urge that, regarding part-time faculty salaries, we must take into account the local market issues when considering future increases.
- Press for increasing the minimum salary level of all new faculty.
