Born in Costa Rica and educated in England, Mexico, and the U.S.A., Dr. Escalante brings a global, hands-on approach to marketing and consumer strategy. In his early professional career he worked for the Republic Tobacco Company (a subsidiary of British American Tobacco: BAT Industries) as Market Research and Product Development Manager. For over twenty-five years Dr. Escalante has served as strategy consultant to numerous enterprises, i.e., Pfizer Laboratories, B.F. Goodrich, Levi’s, Coty Cosmetics, Southern California Edison, National Institute of Insurance, Latin American University of Science and Technology (Costa Rica and Panama), Central American Institute of Business Administration, etc., and governments and/or government entities such as, the Government of Costa Rica, the Government of Ecuador, the Government of Nicaragua, the United States Air Force, the California Army National Guard, and others. He has been dean and professor of a Latin American university's Business School and taught extensively for many years in the U.S. and Central America in marketing, motivation, advertising, international marketing, consumer behavior, sales, strategic thinking and strategic planning.

In addition to his on-going consulting practice, since 1992, Dr. Escalante has served the University of La Verne in a variety of positions, most currently as Special Operations Director at the School of Continuing Education, providing services in the area of software and database development, primarily in the design, development and deployment of Banner-related issues. At the University of La Verne he has also served as adjunct professor for the School of Continuing Education as well as for the School of Business and Global Studies (currently the College of Business and Public Management). At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, he has taught Consumer Behavior (ECBU 365), Seminar in Consumer Behavior (ECBU 561), Principles of Marketing (ECBU 360), Marketing in a Global Economy (ECBU 565), International Marketing (ECBU 466), International Marketing Management (ECBU 566), Professional Selling Skills (ECBU 366), and Marketing Communications (ECBU 568). Within La Verne, Dr. Escalante developed and published numerous web courses for distance delivery (at a 50% level of classroom, and 50% distance delivery) of the MBA program, these courses include: Accounting Fundamentals (ECBU 500A), Economics for Decision Making (ECBU 500B), Quantitative and Statistical Analysis (ECBU 500C), Seminar in Economics (ECBU 520), Ethics in Organizations and Society (ECBU 543), Seminar in Organization Theory and Behavior (ECBU 551), Current Issues in Management Practice (ECBU 555), Marketing in a Global Economy (ECBU 565), Managing in a Global Economy (ECBU 581), Strategies in Change Management (ECBU 585), Leadership for the Future (ECBU 586), and Graduate Business Seminar (ECBU 596).

Due to his expertise, he has been a featured speaker for the American Marketing Association, the National Radio Broadcasters Association, the Latin Business Association, the American Advertising Federation and numerous civic groups. He serves, or has served, on the Boards of the Inland Valley News (Chair), Professional Women in Business, La Verne Chamber of Commerce, Inland Valley Economic Development Corporation (Marketing Chair), San Bernardino County Sheriff, American Advertising Federation (Chair), American Radio Broadcasters Association, Connection Enterprises, Inc., and others.
